Preparing For Your Surgery

You must have a responsible adult, such as a family member or friend, available to drive you home after your procedure. We request that this person accompany you to the surgery center and remain at the center during your procedure. YOU CANNOT BE DISCHARGED WITH A TAXI SERVICE.

You will receive pre-op instructions from your physician. These instructions will include specific instructions for medication use. Some medications must be discontinued prior to your procedure. Please read these instructions carefully and follow them.

Do not eat anything for 6 hours prior to your appointment time or drink anything 2 hours prior to your appointment time. You may however, take required medications with a small amount of water.

Please bring a list of the medications you are currently taking.

If you think you may be pregnant, notify your physician and the nurse when you arrive.

If you have any change in your health status, please notify your doctor. Report even minor changes such as a cough or cold.

Be sure to bring your insurance cards, a state issued pictured indentification (drivers license), and Advance Directives (Living Will, Health Care Proxy, and/or Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care documents)
